Light emitting diodes
UL has evaluated light emitting diodes (LED) lighting systems and components for a variety of applications including exit luminaires, signs and sign retrofit applications, and general lighting. These evaluations have been for complete systems or components such as LED drivers. These systems and components are covered under various UL categories relative to their application. These categories include signs, sign accessories, sign conversion retrofit kits, luminaires, under-cabinet luminaires, lamp adapters and miscellaneous lampholders.
UL's current service portfolio for LED lighting products includes:
- Safety certification and compliance services for Argentina, Canada, China, Germany, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Russian Federation and the United States,
- U.S. Department of Energy ENERGY STAR® qualification testing through a strategic partnership with Luminaire Testing Laboratory, Inc., making UL the first Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory to make this service available for LED lighting products,
- Photobiological Evaluations for testing agaisnt IEC/EN 62471, to determine the risk group of LED Lighting products.
- UL CB Scheme services for lighting products that make it possible for you to access certifications in more than 40 countries around the world
- EMC services that help you demonstrate compliance with mandatory EMC requirements,
- Other UL services such as consulting, training and preliminary investigations, all focused on helping our customers achieve their overall compliance goals.
