for Hazardous Locations
UL is in the unique situation of being able to
provide you with both European, North and South
American certification for your Ex products. This
will save you valuable time and keep the coordination
to a minimum.
We have decades of experience in servicing clients
in the following:
- Europe (Epsilon X Mark)
- USA (UL Mark)
- Canada (C-UL Mark)
- Brazil (INMETRO)
The determination that areas can be classified
as hazardous locations is based on the following:
- the possible presence of an explosive atmosphere
such as flammable gases, vapors, or liquids,
combustible dusts or ignitable fibers &
flyings;
- the likelihood that the explosive atmosphere
is present when equipment is operating; and
- the ignition-related properties of the explosive
atmosphere that is present.
This
approach to classifying hazardous locations is
used by different local authorities. The local
authority will normally base the classifications
on the local rules.
