ISO 14001 Environmental Management
Systems
Managing environmental issues is one of the major
tasks that business has to face.
A structured management system will allow an
organization to keep track of and ensure compliance
with the increasingly complex environmental legislative
requirements and to optimise their use of resources,
while minimising the impact on the environment.
The international organization for standards
(ISO) developed ISO 14001 to provide organizations
with a consistent and globally recognized structure
for creating, implementing, monitoring and improving
EMS.
ISO 14001 can be used to integrate your EMS with
your overall management structure, using the requirements
as a framework to efficiently manage and control
your systems.
ISO 14001 allows you to examine environmental
issues in the light of efficiency management,
leading to reduction in waste (of materials, energy,
resources) and the associated costs.
ISO 14001 registration can help you:
1) Work towards continual improvement
2) Realise improvements in productivity, waste
reduction and pollution prevention
3) Improve efficiency management
4) Decrease energy costs and resources used
5) Enhance your image amongst the workforce,
the public and customers and clients
6) Comply with existing and emerging regulations
7) Meet government, customer or industry purchasing
regulations
8) Gain a competitive advantage in the environmental
marketplace
The UL registration process

will be able to answer any questions you may have
as well as gathering information on your activities.
This helps us to prepare a quotation for our ISO
14001 registration services.

of system implementation, follow up of issues
raised at step 1 and planning for ongoing continuous
assessment after registration.
Following registration, UL’s continuous
assessment process involves six monthly surveillance
visits that lead to a complete review of the system
every two years.
