Background on the TE Supplement

The TE Supplement was developed by a committee consisting of representatives from Daimler Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and members of the tooling and equipment industry. This committee was guided by the Daimler Chrysler, Ford, General Motors Supplier Quality Requirements Task Force.

The TE Supplement defines the fundamental quality system expectations of Daimler Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and other subscribing companies for suppliers of tooling and equipment.

Who are these requirements for?
The TE Supplement applies to manufactures of machinery and machine components. Machinery and machine components consist of tooling and equipment to perform processes such as:

Assembly Heat treating Plating
Balancing
Machining
Robotics Casting Material handling
Stamping
Deburring Measuring Washing
Forging
Molding Welding Forming
Packaging Gaging Painting  

and other emerging manufacturing techniques

What are the goals of the TE Supplement?
The goal of the TE Supplement in conjunction with QS-9000 is the development of fundamental quality systems that provide for continuous improvement, defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.

How does the TE Supplement relate to QS-9000?
The TE Supplement embraces all ISO 9001 elements, and modifies the following QS-9000 elements:
